Available in 15g and 50g | from £8 | £28 for 50g
A rich, botanically active face cream handcrafted in West Wittering — formulated with a thoughtfully chosen blend of plant oils, sodium hyaluronate, and pure essential oils to deeply hydrate, nourish, and support the skin's natural moisture barrier. Suitable for all skin types, including dry, combination, and menopausal skin.
What makes this cream work
At the heart of this formula is a biomimetic emulsifier system — cetearyl olivate and sorbitan olivate, derived from olive oil — that mirrors the natural lamellar structure of healthy skin lipids. Unlike conventional emulsifiers that simply bind oil and water together, this system integrates with the skin's own barrier, delivering moisture in a way that feels genuinely comfortable and skin-compatible rather than sitting on the surface.
The oil phase is where this cream really earns its place. Pumpkin seed oil — rich in linoleic acid, zinc, and naturally occurring vitamin E — is a deeply nourishing oil that absorbs readily without heaviness. Jojoba seed oil is technically a liquid wax rather than an oil, with a molecular structure remarkably similar to human sebum, making it exceptionally well tolerated across all skin types. Tamanu oil, cold-pressed from the nuts of the Calophyllum inophyllum tree, is a rich, intensely nourishing oil with a long history of use in traditional botanical skincare — valued for its unique fatty acid profile including calophyllic acid and calophyllolide, compounds found in very few other plant sources.
Aloe vera leaf juice forms part of the water phase, adding natural skin-soothing and conditioning properties, while sodium hyaluronate draws moisture into the skin's surface layers for visible hydration. Vegetable glycerin acts as a humectant, helping to maintain the skin's water content throughout the day. Vitamin E (tocopherol) provides antioxidant support and helps preserve the integrity of the oils in the formula.
The essential oil blend — neroli, sweet orange peel, and palmarosa — is chosen as much for skin compatibility as for scent. Neroli, steam-distilled from the blossom of the bitter orange tree, is one of the most skin-compatible and botanically prized essential oils available. Palmarosa — a grass-derived essential oil with a soft, rosy character — is naturally rich in geraniol and valued for its gentle, skin-supportive properties. Sweet orange peel oil rounds out the blend with a light, uplifting citrus note. Together they create a genuinely beautiful, naturally fragranced cream that contains no synthetic parfum whatsoever.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is this cream suitable for menopausal skin? Yes — the formula works particularly well for menopausal skin. The biomimetic emulsifier system mirrors the lamellar structure of healthy skin lipids, which naturally thin and become less effective during menopause. Tamanu and pumpkin seed oils provide rich fatty acid nourishment, sodium hyaluronate supports surface hydration, and the absence of synthetic fragrance reduces the risk of the sensitivity flare-ups that often increase with hormonal change. It's a genuinely supportive daily moisturiser for skin going through transition.
What is tamanu oil and why is it in this formula? Tamanu oil is cold-pressed from the nuts of the Calophyllum inophyllum tree, native to tropical Asia and the Pacific. It's a rich, intensely nourishing botanical oil with a unique fatty acid profile — including calophyllic acid and calophyllolide, compounds found in very few other plant sources — that has made it a prized ingredient in traditional skincare across multiple cultures for centuries. In this formula it adds deep nourishment and skin-supportive properties that lighter oils alone can't provide.
Does this cream contain synthetic fragrance? No — the scent comes entirely from three pure essential oils: neroli, sweet orange peel, and palmarosa. There is no added parfum or synthetic fragrance blend. Neroli is steam-distilled from bitter orange blossom and is one of the most botanically prized essential oils in natural skincare. Palmarosa is a grass-derived oil with a soft, rosy character. Sweet orange peel adds a light, uplifting citrus lift. Together they create a genuinely beautiful natural fragrance that also happens to be skin-compatible.
What is the biomimetic emulsifier system and why does it matter? The emulsifier system — cetearyl olivate and sorbitan olivate, derived from olive oil — is described as biomimetic because it mirrors the lamellar structure of healthy skin lipids. Conventional emulsifiers simply bind oil and water together mechanically. This system integrates more naturally with the skin's barrier, which means moisture is delivered in a more skin-compatible way — you get hydration that feels genuinely comfortable rather than heavy or occlusive. It's the same system used in our Oat & Mandarin Cleanser, chosen deliberately for its barrier-supportive properties.
Can I use this cream with the rest of the Puremess range? Yes — it's designed to sit within the Puremess ritual. Use after the Oat & Mandarin Cleanser, Balancing Toner, and Replenishing Serum. Apply to slightly damp skin after toning for best absorption. Follow with the Nourishing Facial Oil as a final barrier-supporting step if your skin needs extra nourishment, particularly in colder months.
Is the 15g size a good way to try the cream before committing to the full size? Absolutely — the 15g is the perfect introduction to the formula. It's large enough to give your skin a genuine two to three week trial, which is enough time to assess how your skin responds and whether the texture, scent, and performance suit you before investing in the 50g.
