Menopause Bath Salts: Natural Relief with Essential Oils
Soothe menopause symptoms naturally with this simple bath salt recipe
Let's be honest. The menopause journey isn't all herbal tea and affirmations. Between hot flushes, mood swings, and the joy of night sweats, things can get a little intense. While HRT is an option for many, some women are looking for natural ways to support their bodies through the transition and that's where this recipe comes in.
This bath salt blend is my personal go-to. It's soothing, smells divine, and gives your hormones (and your nerves) a gentle helping hand on the harder days.
Why Essential Oils Can Help During Menopause
Essential oils have been used for centuries to support hormonal balance, reduce anxiety, improve sleep, and calm the body and mind. Here are the stars of the show in this recipe:
Clary Sage - traditionally used to support hormonal balance and calm mood swings. One of the most valued botanicals in natural menopause support.
Geranium - uplifting and balancing, with a long history of use for emotional wellbeing during times of hormonal change.
Lavender - calming, comforting, and particularly supportive for winding down before sleep.
Lemon or Ho Wood - invigorating and emotionally balancing; the bright note that lifts the whole blend.
Together they create a genuinely soothing bath experience that eases the tension of fluctuating hormones and leaves skin feeling soft and nourished.
Natural Menopause Bath Salt Recipe
This is the exact blend I use when I need a sanctuary in a tub moment. You can add it directly to the bath or spoon it into biodegradable tea bags to avoid flower petal chaos in the drain.
Ingredients
- 1 cup Epsom salts
- 1 cup Dead Sea salts
- 2 tablespoons fractionated coconut oil (liquid form)
- 4 drops geranium essential oil
- 3 drops clary sage essential oil
- 3 drops lavender essential oil
- 2 drops lemon or Ho Wood essential oil
- 2 tablespoons dried lavender or rose buds (optional but beautiful)
Method
Mix all ingredients in a bowl until thoroughly combined. Decant into biodegradable bath tea bags or a sealed container. Store any unused salts in an airtight jar to preserve the aroma.
Run your bath. Drop in your tea bag or a generous scoop of the salts. Slide in and breathe. Deeply. Hide from your family for twenty minutes if needed — you've earned it.
Why It Works
Epsom salts are rich in magnesium, a mineral many of us are low in, particularly during perimenopause. They help soothe tired muscles and support relaxation.
Dead Sea salts are naturally rich in minerals including magnesium, calcium, potassium, and sodium, the same mineral profile that makes our Dead Sea Clay Face Mask so popular for menopausal skin. Deeply cleansing and nourishing for skin, and genuinely therapeutic to soak in.
Fractionated coconut oil adds a softening, nourishing touch without leaving the bath dangerously slippery, a very important distinction.
Essential oils work their balancing magic through both inhalation and absorption, making the bath itself a full sensory experience rather than just a soak.
The result? A calmer mind, softer skin, and a small pocket of peace that is entirely yours.
Make It Part of Your Menopause Skincare Ritual
The bath is just the beginning. Once you're out, your skin is perfectly prepped to absorb everything you apply to it. A few drops of our Nourishing Facial Oil applied to still-damp skin will lock in hydration beautifully — and our Oat and Mandarin Cleansing Balm makes a wonderfully gentle end to an evening bath ritual for the face.
If you're building a natural skincare routine specifically for menopausal skin, our Skin Resilience Bundle was put together with exactly this in mind.
