What genuinely clean hair looks like

Most shampoos rely on aggressive sulphates that strip the hair and scalp of their natural oils — leaving hair clean, yes, but also dry, prone to frizz, and dependent on heavy conditioners to compensate. This formula takes a different approach.

Coco-glucoside forms the primary cleansing base — a plant-derived surfactant from coconut and fruit sugars that produces a soft, conditioning lather that cleans effectively without stripping. The scalp's natural oil balance is respected rather than eliminated, which means hair feels genuinely healthy rather than just temporarily clean.

What makes this shampoo's botanical layer particularly interesting is the combination of plum fruit extract and hibiscus flower extract — two ingredients rarely seen together and both genuinely beneficial for hair and scalp health. Plum fruit extract is naturally rich in vitamins and antioxidants and brings a conditioning, smoothing quality to the formula. Making the switch to natural shampoo

If you're transitioning from a conventional shampoo, your hair might need a little time to adjust and we want you to know that's completely normal!

Conventional shampoos contain SLS and SLES, which strip your scalp of its natural oils. Over time your scalp compensates by overproducing oil, so when you switch to our gentler SLS and SLES free formula it can take 2 to 4 weeks for things to rebalance. During this time your hair might feel slightly heavier or take longer to feel clean than usual.

Stick with it. Most people find that once their scalp adjusts, their hair feels better than it ever did on conventional shampoo, softer, healthier and with a natural balance that doesn't need washing every day.

A few tips to help with the transition:

• Use a little less than you think you need, a small amount goes a long way
• Rinse thoroughly with warm water
• Try washing every other day to give your scalp time to settle

How to use

Apply a small amount to wet hair. Massage gently into the scalp using fingertips — not nails — working the lather through to the ends. Breathe in the neroli and mandarin as you do. Rinse thoroughly with warm water. Follow with the Puremess Neroli & Mandarin Organic Conditioner for best results.

Is this shampoo sulphate-free? This formula contains no SLS or SLES — the harshest and most commonly irritating sulphates found in conventional products. The primary cleanser is coco-glucoside, a gentle plant-derived surfactant, supported by sodium coco-sulfate — a coconut-derived ingredient significantly gentler than SLS and approved for use in Soil Association certified organic formulations.

Will this shampoo lather as well as my regular shampoo? It will lather — but perhaps not as dramatically as a conventional sulphate shampoo. High-foam lather is largely a cosmetic effect created by aggressive sulphates rather than an indicator of cleansing effectiveness. This formula cleans just as thoroughly with a softer, more conditioning lather.

Is this shampoo suitable for colour-treated hair? Yes — the sulphate-free formula is much gentler on colour-treated hair than conventional shampoos. Sulphates are one of the primary causes of colour fade, so switching to a sulphate-free formula can significantly extend the life of a colour treatment.

What is neroli and why is it so special?
