Replenishing Facial Serum

30ml | Amber glass dropper bottle | £35

A high-potency, fragrance-free facial serum handcrafted in West Wittering, combining some of the most well-researched plant-based actives in natural skincare. Formulated for skin that needs deep hydration, improved radiance, and a more even, healthy-looking complexion — particularly suited to menopausal, mature, and dehydrated skin.

What makes this serum different

This isn't a serum built around one hero ingredient and a lot of water. Every active in this formula is there for a specific reason, working in concert with the others.

Niacinamide (Vitamin B3) is one of the most extensively studied skincare ingredients available — known for its role in supporting an even skin tone, refining the look of pores, and helping the skin maintain its natural moisture barrier. Paired with sodium hyaluronate — a low-molecular-weight form of hyaluronic acid that draws moisture deep into the skin's surface layers — the hydration story here is genuinely substantial.

Wu Zhu fruit extract, sourced from Evodia rutaecarpa in China via an ethically certified supply chain, is a brightening botanical with antioxidant and humectant properties. It visibly revitalises dull, tired-looking skin and supports a more even, luminous complexion — and it's been specifically chosen to work in synergy with the lupine peptides in this formula.

Those lupine peptides — derived from sweet white lupine through enzymatic hydrolysis — bring a rich amino acid profile to the formula, forming a fine protective film on the skin's surface that helps lock in moisture and support the look of skin firmness and elasticity over time.

Blueberry seed oil and marine algae extract round out the formula with antioxidant support and hydration — the algae in particular is a sustainably sourced ingredient with well-documented moisturising and skin-conditioning properties.

Geranium floral water forms the base — the same true botanical hydrosol used in our Balancing Toner, chosen for its natural skin-balancing and calming properties, and its compatibility with sensitive and reactive skin.

For menopausal skin, where hydration, radiance, and elasticity are often the first things to shift, this combination of actives offers meaningful support — without synthetic fragrance, silicones, or any of the ingredients that commonly trigger sensitivity.

What's in it — and why

• Geranium floral water (Pelargonium graveolens) — true botanical hydrosol base; calming, balancing, and skin-compatible
• Niacinamide / Vitamin B3 — supports an even skin tone, helps maintain the skin's moisture barrier, and refines the appearance of pores
• Blueberry fruit extract (Vaccinium myrtillus) — antioxidant-rich botanical extract delivered in a skin-conditioning glycerin base; helps protect skin from environmental stressors and supports a more even, radiant-looking complexion
• Lupine peptides (Lupinus albus, hydrolysed) — plant-derived peptide extract with a rich amino acid profile; supports the appearance of skin firmness and helps lock in moisture with a fine surface film
• Sodium hyaluronate — low-molecular-weight hyaluronic acid; draws moisture into the skin's surface layers for visible plumping and hydration
• Wu Zhu fruit extract (Evodia rutaecarpa) — ethically sourced Chinese botanical; brightens a dull complexion and supports a more even, radiant skin tone
• Marine algae extract (Cylindrotheca fusiformis) — sustainably sourced; moisturising and skin-conditioning
• Aloe vera leaf juice (Aloe barbadensis) — soothing, hydrating, and skin-calming
• Natural preservative system (Dehydroacetic acid, Benzyl alcohol) — effective without parabens

How to use

Dispense 2–3 drops onto your fingertips and gently press into clean, slightly damp skin — damp skin helps actives absorb more effectively. Work across the face and neck, pressing rather than rubbing. Follow immediately with your moisturiser to seal everything in.

✨ Top tip: Use after your Puremess Balancing Toner and before your moisturiser for the full layering effect — toner resets pH, serum delivers the actives, moisturiser locks them in.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this serum suitable for menopausal skin? Yes — it's specifically designed with the needs of menopausal and mature skin in mind. The combination of sodium hyaluronate for deep hydration, niacinamide for supporting an even skin tone, and lupine peptides for the appearance of firmness addresses the key concerns that shift during menopause. It's completely fragrance-free and free from the synthetic ingredients that often trigger the increased sensitivity that comes with hormonal change.

What does niacinamide do in this serum? Niacinamide — also known as Vitamin B3 — is one of the most well-researched actives in skincare. In this formula it works to support an even, more uniform skin tone, help maintain the skin's natural moisture barrier, and refine the appearance of pores. It's water-soluble, works across all skin types, and is particularly effective when layered under a moisturiser.

What is Wu Zhu extract and why is it in this formula? Wu Zhu extract comes from the fruit of Evodia rutaecarpa, a plant native to China, and is ethically sourced via a certified supply chain free from exploitative labour practices. In skincare it's valued for its brightening properties — it visibly revitalises a dull, tired-looking complexion and supports a more uniform skin tone. It's also a humectant, helping to draw moisture to the skin's surface. We've specifically paired it with lupine peptides in this formula because the two actives work in synergy — a combination that Aromantic, our ingredient supplier, specifically recommend for skin-conditioning serums.

Does this serum contain hyaluronic acid? Yes — in the form of sodium hyaluronate, which is the salt form of hyaluronic acid and has a lower molecular weight, allowing it to work at the skin's surface to attract and hold moisture. You'll notice the difference most in how skin feels throughout the day — more comfortable, more supple, less prone to that tight or dehydrated feeling.

Is this serum fragrance-free? Completely. There is no synthetic fragrance, parfum, or added essential oil in this formula. Any very subtle natural scent comes from the botanical ingredients themselves — particularly the geranium floral water base. It is suitable for fragrance-sensitive skin.

Can I use this serum with the rest of the Puremess range? Yes — it's designed to sit within the Puremess ritual. Use it after the Oat & Mandarin Cleanser and Balancing Toner, and before your moisturiser. The toner resets your skin's pH so the serum actives can absorb effectively; the moisturiser seals everything in.
